Sharman's Overtime Goal Gives Men's Soccer 3-2 Victory over Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The American International College men's soccer team earned a 3-2 overtime victory over Le Moyne College on Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Yellow Jackets improve to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the dolphins drop to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the NE-10.

The contest remained scoreless until 48:16 when senior midfielder Conor Doyle (Douglas, Ilse of Man) put AIC on the board as he headed the ball into the right side of the net. Le Moyne knotted the contest 62:29 as sophomore midfielder Casey Murphy (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored off of a penalty kick.

Freshman forward Ed Sharman (Runbridge Wells, England) put the Yellow Jackets ahead 2-1 as he found the back of the net off a penalty kick. Murphy tied the contest again at 81:39 in the contest to send the game into overtime.

Sharman found the back of the net at 104:44 in double overtime to give AIC a 3-2 victory over the Dolphins.

Junior goalie Jason Ryan (Peabody, Mass.) earned the win in net making four saves, while junior goalie Matthew Silva took the loss for Le Moyne making seven saves.

AIC outshot the Dolphins 22-11 and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Bentley University for a 6 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
