GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The American International College baseball team dropped a 4-0 Northeast-10 contest at Adelphi University on Friday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 17-17 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 12-20-1 overall and 1-9-1 in the NE-10.
Senior Chris Pabisch (Dix Hills, N.Y.) earned his third win of the season for Adelphi after pitching eight scoreless innings in which he gave up three hits. Freshman
Ryan Acevedo (Poway, Calif.) took the loss for AIC as he gave up three runs and struck out four batters in six innings of work.
Sophomore Richard Mejia (Jackson, N.J.) singled up the middle. Sophomore Chad Houghton (Plymouth, Mass.) hit a RBI double down the lf line to score Mejia to put the Panthers on the board in the bottom of the second inning.
Freshman right fielder Nick Zito (Nesconset, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 with two runs for Adelphi.
The Yellow Jackets were held to just four hits, but sophomore
Dave Clark (West Springfield, Mass.) went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
AIC returns to action tomorrow afternoon for a 12 p.m. Northeast-10 doubleheader at Adelphi University.
