Men's Basketball Edged at Pace, 63-61

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 63-61 Northeast-10 contest at Pace University Tuesday night. The Setters improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the NE-10 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Senior forward Keon Williams (Hackensack, N.J.) scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down a game-high 12 boards to lead Pace to the win. Junior guard Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, Md.) scored 15 points with five assists, while freshman forward Jaylen Mann (Youngstown, Ohio) just missed a double-double of his own with 14 points and nine boards.

Senior guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) also scored a game-high 20 points to lead AIC and completed his double-double with 10 rebounds. Graduate guard Sesoo Ikpah (Williamstown. N.J.) scored 12 points with eight boards, while junior center David Campbell (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and eight boards.

The Yellow Jackets led for a majority of the game, opening the contest with a 7-0 run and taking a 32-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.

AIC was up 48-41 following a layup rom Hudson midway through the second half before a 9-1 Setters run gave them a 50-49 lead just two minutes later.

The lead exchanged hands several times after that and the Yellow Jackets were up 59-58 after Ikpah knocked down a jumper with 4:17 remaining in the contest. Williams then converted a layup that gave Pace the lead for good and Mann put the Setters ahead 63-59 with a three ball with 2:42 to go.

Campbell threw down a dunk with 1:28 remaining to pull AIC back within two, but neither team managed to score the remainder of the game and Pace held on for the win.

The Yellow Jackets will look to get back in the win column when they host Le Moyne College November 28. The Northeast-10 contest will tip off at 7:30 from Henry A. Butova Gymnasium.
