LAST TIME OUT: AIC dropped a 2-1 decision at Stonehill College on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman midfielder
Roni Unger put AIC on the board at the 50 minute mark when he found the back of the net off a pass from Doyle. Ten minutes later Stonehill tied it up at 1-1 when sophomore back Ben Zandonella scored his first goal of the contest off a header. Zandonella scored his second goal of the contest 2:10 minutes later to give the Skyhawks the 2-1 lead and the victory over the Yellow Jackets. Freshman goalie Luke Besse stopped three in the win, while freshman goalkeeper
Sebastian Tamayo made five saves in the loss for AIC.
ABOUT SAINT MICHAEL'S: The Purple Knights enter today's contest with an overall record of 6-3-2 and 2-3-2 in the NE-10 after dropping a 1-0 decision to UMass Lowell on Wednesday. Junior midfielder Josh Vlasich leads Saint Michael's with eight goals and eight assists for 24 points, followed by junior forward Anthony Stanley with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. Sophomore back Gonzalo Mengotti (three goals) and senior midfielder Ben Lessard (two goals, two assists) are tied for third with six points each. Senior goalkeeper Logan Kingman is 6-3-2 in net with a total of 43 saves, a .811 save percentage and a .96 goals against average.
LAST TIME THEY MET: AIC dropped a 2-1 Northeast-10 match at Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when
Thomas Denomme found the back of the net just 5:51 into the match. The score remained 1-0 in favor of AIC until sophomore Thomas Barron tied the game in the 59th-minute off a free kick. Another free kick in the 70th-minute led to the game-winning tally from classmate Philip McCormick. Kingman needed to make just one save to earn the decision in net for Saint Michael's, while Ryan had two stops in taking the loss for AIC.
NEXT UP: The Yellow Jackets will travel to Southern Connecticut on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
