NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 Northeast-10 contest at Southern Connecticut State University Tuesday night. The Owls improved to 5-4-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-8-2 overall and 3-4-2 in conference play.
Junior Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 19th-minute and freshman Mads Larsen (Trondheim, Norway) added an insurance goal in the 36th-minute that gave SCSU a 2-0 lead at the half. Senior Mario DiMiceli (Vilers-Le-Bouillet, Belguim) capped the scoring in the 60th-minute for the 3-0 final.
Sophomore Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn.) recorded five saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Owls, while freshman
Sebastian Tamayo (Stratford, Conn.) had 11 stops in taking the loss for AIC.
The Owls outshot the Yellow Jackets 29-6 in the game, while corner kicks were even at four apiece.
AIC will next travel to Franklin Pierce University Saturday for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 match.
