EASTON, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision at fourth-ranked Stonehill College Tuesday night. Both team's records now stand at 1-2 for the season.
All three Skyhawk goals were scored by senior forward Kathryn Nelson (Schrewsbury, Mass.) during a 6:11 span early in the second half. She opened the scoring 2:27 into the second period and then added goals in the 42nd and 44th minutes. They were her first three goals of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass.) recorded five saves to earn the decision in goal while senior goalkeeper
Kim Steiner (Little Falls, N.Y.) had eight saves in taking the loss.
Stonehill outshot AIC 19-6 in the game, including an 11-2 margin in the second half, and had a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday, September 10, with a 1 p.m. non-conference match against Saint Anselm College at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
