SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team recorded a 1-0 victory over Assumption College in their first Northeast-10 contest of the season. The Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in NE-10 play, while the Greyhounds fall to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Senior forward
Amanda McLean (Branford, Conn.) slapped the ball into the net off a pass from sophomore back Cassie Caciano (Stafford Springs, Conn.) at 17:29 in the first half. AIC held the lead and earned a 1-0 victory over Assumption.
Senior goalkeeper
Kim Steiner (Little Falls, N.Y.) made three saves to earn the decision in the net for the Yellow Jackets, while sophomore goalkeeper Heather Philbrick (Kennebunkport, Maine) stopped eight in taking the loss for the Greyhounds.
AIC will host Lindenwood University on Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
