GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Freshman forward
Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the American International College field hockey team recorded a 3-1 non-conference win at 10th-ranked Adelphi University Tuesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-3 for the season, while the Panthers record fell to 4-4 overall
Masionis opened the scoring just 2:35 into the contest when she banged home her own rebound off a penalty corner for her second goal of the season. The score remained 1-0 until 3:11 into the second half when Masionis scored her third goal of the season.
Junior forward
Kristen Angeletti (Wallingford, Conn.) extended the Yellow Jackets' lead to 3-0 in the 59th-minute when Masionis sent her in on a breakaway for her second goal of the year.
Junior midfielder Emilee Rahner (Setauket, N.Y.) broke up AIC's bid for a shutout with four minutes to go as she lofted a shot over the head of senior goalkeeper

Steiner made seven saves to earn the decision in the net for AIC, while senior goalkeeper Lucia Vigliotti (Westbury, N.Y.) also made seven saves in taking the loss for the Panthers.
AIC controlled play in the first half, outshooting Adelphi 10-6 and holding a 6-0 advantage in penalty corners. The second half was just the opposite as the Panthers outshot the Yellow Jackets 17-7 and had a 13-2 advantage in corners.
AIC will next open the Northeast-10 portion of its schedule when it hosts Assumption College Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
