Le Moyne Scores Double-Overtime Win Over Men's Soccer, 1-0

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to Le Moyne College in double-overtime Tuesday night at Ronald J. Abdow Field. The Dolphins improved to 2-2-1 for the season and 1-0-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.

AIC made one mistake in the entire game, but it was a costly one as it led to the only goal of the game with just 1:50 left in the second overtime period. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over inside their own box and sophomore forward Michael Spadine (Owego, N.Y.) fired the ball past AIC sophomore keeper Jason Ryan () to win the game for Le Moyne.

Both Ryan and Dolphins sophomore keeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ont.) put on a show in regulation and overtime, robbing countless scoring chances at both ends of the field throughout the match. Ryan finished the contest with 12 saves, while Silva registered eight stops. Le Moyne also had a critical team save on a shot off the foot of junior midfielder Kevin Pereira (Ludlow, Mass.) that was bound for the back of the net with 1:17 left in the first half.

AIC outshot Le Moyne 26-24 in the match, but the Dolphins had a 5-3 edge in overtime. Le Moyne had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Yellow Jackets will next travel to Bentley University Sunday for a 1 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
