SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision against Saint Anslem on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Hawks improved to 6-8-2 overall and 3-7- 1 in the conference play, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-8-3 overall and 4-6-2 in NE-10 play.
Saint Anslem started the contest with an early 1-0 lead just 3:13 in the first half when George Lamptey found the back of the net off a pass from Maximillian Glebocki (Wilbraham, Mass.). AIC tied the game at 48:12 when
Ike Ekwueme buried a shot past junior goalie Eric Moriarty (Center Harbor, N.H.)
Sophomore midfielder Matthew McQueeny (Hooksett, N.H.) gave Saint Anselm the lead back at 74:46 into the contest. The 2-1 lead did not last long when AIC answered back off a shot from junior midfielder
Conor Doyle (Douglas, Ilse of Man) to tie the game at 2-2.
The Hawks took a corner shot and Maximillian scored with 28 seconds remaining in regulation to earn a 3-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
AIC outshot Saint Anslem 26-17 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to C.W. Post on Monday afternoon for a 2 p.m. non-conference contest.
