MANCHESTER, N.H. – No. 14 Southern New Hampshire University scored a pair of second half goals to overcome an early 1-0 deficit and record a 2-1 Northeast-10 victory over the American International College men's soccer team Saturday afternoon.
The Penmen improved to 15-2-0 for the season and 11-2-0 in the Northeast-10 and will be seeded second in the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship Tournament. AIC closed the season at 5-10-3 overall and 4-7-2 in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 1-0 lead when sophomore forward
Ike Ekwueme (Manchester, England) fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal 15:10 into the match.
The scored remained 1-0 in favor of AIC until the 64th-minute when junior forward Chris Tsonis (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored off a free kick just outside the 18-yard box to tie the game. Freshman midfielder Mohamed Toufik (Grande-Synthe, France) then put home the game-winner in the 76th-minute for the 2-1 final.
Graduate keeper Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) earned the win in net after stopping AIC's only shot on goal in the second half, while senior keeper Mark Painchaud (Concord, N.H.) made three saves in the first half. Sophomore keeper
