Field Hockey Falls at Franklin Pierce in Overtime, 2-1

RINDGE, N.H. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision at Franklin Pierce University Monday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Ravens improved to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Franklin Pierce got on the board 11:18 into the match when junior midfielder Megan Bird's (Laconia, N.H.) shot from the top of the circle hit off the inside of the left post and found its way into the back of the cage.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Ravens until freshman Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season with 3:05 left in regulation to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.

Four minutes into the extra frame junior midfielder Alyssa Juszcyk (Warren, Mass.) sent the ball towards the goal and senior forward Tia Levins (Manchester, Maine) was there to tip it home to win the game for the Franklin Pierce.

Senior goalkeeper Brittanty Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded five saves to earn the win in goal for the Ravens, while senior goalkeeper Kim Steiner had nine stops in taking the loss for the Yellow Jackets.

Franklin Pierce outshot AIC 23-19 in the match, while AIC had a 15-9 advantage in penalty corners. Shots were even in overtime at four each.

The Yellow Jackets will next travel to Saint Anselm College for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
