Late Rally Comes Up Short at Saint Anselm, Men's Basketball Falls 77-65

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 77-65 Northeast-10 contest at No. 25 Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon, dropping its record to 15-5- overall and 11-4 in conference play. The Hawks improved to 15-4 overall and 11-4 in the NE-10 with the win.

Saint Anselm closed the first half with an 8-0 run to take a 41-22 lead into the locker room at the break and appeared to be in complete control of the game with a 58-35 lead at the 10:34 mark of the second half.

AIC then went on a 16-2 run over the next 5:06 to pull back within seven after a layup from senior forward Anthony Thomas (Baltimore, Md.) cut the deficit to 60-53.

The Yellow Jackets were down by six after junior forward Isiah Wallace (Springfield, Mass.) knocked down a jumper with 1:02 left to make it 71-65 in favor of the Hawks, but Saint Anselm scored each of the last six points to secure the win.

Senior guard Thomas Baudinet (Watertown, Conn.) scored a game-high 29 points to lead Saint Anselm to the win. Freshman forward Allen Harris (Roslindale, Mass.) added 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and a 5-for-7 performance at the line, while junior forward Jack Keough (Owego, N.Y.) netted 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Wallace led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points, while sophomore guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) poured in 15 points off the bench. Senior guard Allen Aragbaye (Corona, Calif.) also scored in double-figures with 11 points. Senior forward Denzel Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a game-high 11 boards with six points and three assists.

The Hawks shot 49.1 percent (28-57) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-18) from three, while AIC shot 50 percent (25-50) from the floor and 25 percent (2-8) from downtown. Saint Anselm was 13-of-19 at the free throw line, while the Yellow Jackets went 13-for-25.

AIC will home Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest against the University of New Haven at Butova Gymnasium.
