Stonehill Scores Late to Beat Men's Soccer Team 4-3

EASTON, Mass. – Stonehill College got a goal from senior Tyler Hebert (Rockland, Mass.) in the 75th minute to break a 3-3 tie and give the Skyhawks a 4-3 Northeast-10 win over the American International College men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Conor Doyle (Douglas, Isle of Man) scored twice for the Yellow Jackets.

AIC (1-2, 0-1 NE-10) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 3:30 into the match when Dolye scored his first goal of the game with an assist from junior Drou Goff (Pembroke, N.H.). The score remained 1-0 until 24 seconds into the second half when junior Michael White (Lisbon, N.H.) scored off a feed from classmate Ross McWilliams (Kingston, R.I.) to knot the score at one.

Sophomore Jonathan Hope (Avon, Conn.) gave Stonehill (2-0, 1-0 NE-10) its first lead of the game in the 62nd minute, but that lead didn't last long as junior Thomas Denomme (North Smithfield, R.I.) answered for the Yellow Jackets 23 seconds later to make is a 2-2 contest.

The goals just kept coming with the Skyhawks regaining the lead at 63:47 on White's second goal of the game and Doyle answering for AIC at 64:49 to make it a 3-3 contest. Hebert then gave the Skyhawks the lead for good at 74:41 with assists credited to sophomore Anthony Campagnano (Schenectady, N.Y.) and senior Kevin Moroney (Medway, Mass.).

Senior Brandon McFarlane (Norwich, Conn.) tallied seven saves to earn the decision in net for Stonehill, while junior James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) registered eight saves in taking the loss for AIC.

The Yellow Jackets outshot the Skyhawks 22-19 in the game, including a 13-8 margin in the first half, and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

AIC will look to rebound Saturday when it heads to New York Institute of Technology Saturday for a 1 p.m. non-conference contest.
