Men's Soccer Blanks Post 1-0 at Merrimack Invitational

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The American International College men's soccer team registered a 1-0 non-conference victory over Post University at the Merrimack Invitational. Sophomore midfielder Callum Congreve (Sheffield, England) scored netted the game winner for the Yellow Jackets.

AIC evened its record at 1-1-0 with the win, while the Eagles dropped to 0-2-0 for the season.

The game was scoreless until the 62nd minutes when Congreve scored off a lead pass from freshman back Derek Alves (Ludlow, Mass.), marking the first goal of his collegiate career.

Freshman keeper James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) needed to make just five saves in registering hit first win and shutout as a Yellow Jacket, four of which were in the first half. Freshman keeper Errol Reid (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) made eight stops in taking the loss for Post.

AIC held a 14-11 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

AIC will next travel to Stonehill College for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
