SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior keeper
James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) tallied seven saves as the American International College men's soccer team tied host Le Moyne College 0-0 Tuesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Yellow Jackets record moved to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the NE-10, while the Dolphins went to 1-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
Freshman keeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ont.) made four saves in 84 minutes in net for Le Moyne before being replaced by redshirt freshman keeper Zac Haenlin (Lowville, N.Y.), who did not face a shot on goal in the final 26 minutes of play.
Taber came up huge in net for AIC. He saved a penalty kick off the foot of senior forward Justin Fredsell (New Hartford, N.Y.) with 3:01 left in the first half and saved point blank shots from Fredsell in the first half and freshman forward Michael Spadine (Owego, N.Y.) in the first overtime.
Yellow Jacket sophomore midfielder/back
Callum Congreve (Sheffield, England) had the best scoring chance in the second overtime period, but his header off a corner kick with 47 seconds left on the clock went wide.
AIC outshot the Dolphins 23-16 in the game, including a 14-5 edge in the second half. Le Moyne had the edge in corner kicks (6-5) and outshot the Yellow Jackets 5-1 in the first overtime frame.
AIC will next take on No. 3 Southern New Hampshire University Saturday at 6 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
