Men's Soccer Falls at NYIT in Overtime, 2-1

WESTBURY, N.Y. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime at New York Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The Bears improved to 1-2-0 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-3-0 with the loss.

Sophomore midfielder Callum Congreve (Sheffield, England) opened the scoring when he buried a cross from sophomore midfielder Conor Doyle (Douglas, Isle of Man) 14:51 into the contest, giving AIC and early 1-0 advantage.

That lead lasted until the 36th-minute when senior back Pierre Sy (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tied the game off a corner kick from freshman midfielder Vinny Caccavale (West Islip, N.Y.). That ended the scoring until junior forward Farah Toure (Prince George, Md.) netted the game-winner 7:46 into overtime to give NYIT the 2-1 victory.

Junior keeper Martin Poissonie (Lille, France) tallied three saves to earn the win in goal for the Bears, while sophomore keeper Corey Cameron (Westfield, Mass.) took the loss after making one save after entering the match at the start of the second half. Classmate James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) made two saves and allowed one goal in the first-half.

NYIT outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-9 and had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.

AIC will next travel to Le Moyne College Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
