Box Score - Game 1, Box Score - Game 2

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College baseball team dropped both ends of a Northeast-10 doubleheader to visiting Bentley University Saturday afternoon, falling in game-one 5-1 and game-two 15-0. The Falcons improved to 18-17 overall and 11-6 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 6-23 overall and 3-15 in conference play.

Junior center fielder Mike Tranghese (Springfield, Mass.) gave AIC an early 1-0 lead when his RBI-single through the left side of the infield scored sophomore shortstop Sean McClelland (Chicopee, Mass.) from second, giving the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead after three innings.

Bentley drew even in the top of the fourth when junior third baseman Ross Curley (Lexington, Mass.) singled through the left side to score freshman first baseman Lamarre Rey (Lynn, Mass.) and then took the lead with sophomore shortstop Vinny Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) scored on sac-fly.

The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the inning on RBI-singles from senior center fielder Brett Damato (Commack, N.Y.) and sophomore designated hitter Mark Lane (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and made it 5-1 in the seventh when Lane singled to drive in junior right fielder James Roche (Arlington, Mass.).

AIC had its opportunities to get more runs, but left two in scoring position in the third and left two more on-base in the eighth.

Junior pitcher Rob Finneran (Garden City, N.Y.) went the distance to earn the decision for the Falcons, improving his record to 6-2. He scattered six hits while fanning eight in nine innings. Sophomore John Hanna (Dudley, Mass.) fell to 2-4 with the loss after allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits in seven innings.

Lane was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Rey went 2-for-4 with a runs scored for Bentley. Junior right fielder Dillono Fontaine (Amenia, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 at the dish for the Yellow Jackets.

Bentley scored four times in the top of the third in game-two, including Rey's two-run bomb that easily cleared the left center fence, and then exploded for six runs in the fourth to take a commanding 10-0 lead.

The was more than enough support for freshman pitcher John Yohe (Merrick, N.Y.), who tossed a six hitter with 10 strikeouts to improve his record to 2-4 for the season. Junior pitcher Sean Stevenson (Holyoke, Mass.) fell to 1-6 after giving up eight runs, five earned, on six hits in three and one-third innings.

Eruzione finished 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Curley went 2-for-6 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Senior second baseman Charlie Pagliarulo (Medford, Mass.) went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and one driven in.

Tranghese went 2-for-3 at the plate for the AIC, while junior designated hitter Paul Maza (Valencia, Venezuela) went
2-for-4.

The Yellow Jackets will next travel to the University of New Haven Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
