Pleasantville, N.Y. – Freshman #Chris Amate# (Hanover, Mass.) went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and drove in what proved to be the game-winning run in as the American International College baseball team posted a 6-5 Northeast-10 win in 11 innings at Pace University Thursday.

AIC trailed 3-0 before finally getting on the board with a run in the top of the eight as junior #Mike Tranghese# (Springfield, Mass.) singled to drive in junior #Kyle McNiff# (Westford, Mass.). Tranghese delivered another run-scoring single in the top of the ninth that scored once against scored McNiff and the Yellow Jackets tied the game as Amate singled to drive in junior #Sean McClelland# (Chicopee, Mass.).

AIC put three runs on the board in the top of the 11th and would need every one of them as the Setters pushed two across in the bottom half of the frame.

Tranghese started the scoring when he drove in MacDonald and Amate followed with a two-RBI double that scored Tranghese and junior #Dillon Fontaine# (Amenia, N.Y.).

Pace got one run back on Spatkowski's single to right that scored junior Chris Roemer (Ardsley, N.Y.) and drew within one on senior Vinny Dammann's (Mullica Hill, N.J.) sac-fly that pushed across Spatkowski. Junior #Geoff McCowat# (Sterling, Va.) then got freshman Brandon Martineson (Warwick, R.I.) to strike out looking to end the game with a runner on second.

Tranghese finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two-runs scored and McCowat allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts in two innings of relief. Junior #John Shivo# (Ayer, Mass.) tossed three scoreless innings with two Ks after sophomore #John Hanna# (Dudley, Mass.) gave up three unearned runs on seven hits with five Ks in six innings.

Senior Frank Luongo (West Harrison, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs, three earned, in two and one-third innings of relief. Junior Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) didn't factor in the decision after giving up one five hits with six strikeouts in eight innings.

AIC will next travel to Saint Anselm Saturday for a Northeast-10 doubleheader at noon.
