Worcester, Mass. - Assumption College plated four runs in the bottom of the bottom of the seventh for a 7-6 come-from-behind win over the American International College baseball team Thursday afternoon. The Greyhounds improved to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

AIC held a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh after junior third baseman #Dan Mooney#'s (Bennington, Vt.) sac fly to center pushed across sophomore first baseman #Julien Concepcion# (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) in the top half of the frame.

Assumption got that run back after senior center fielder Derek Migrants (Ayer, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch and sophomore designated hitter Frank Flynn (Worcester, Mass.) crushed a three-run homer over the right field fence to give the Greyhounds the lead for good.

The Yellow Jackets had chances to tie the game in both the eighth and ninth innings, but were unable to push a run across.

Assumption opened the scoring with two runs in the first and it was a 3-1 contest after the two teams exchanged runs in the fourth. AIC tied the game with two runs in the fifth on an RBI-double from junior second baseman #Paul Maza# (Valencia, Venezuela) and an RBI-single from senior left fielder #Dan Bassani# (Naples, Fla.).

The Yellow Jackets grabbed the lead with a two-run sixth inning. They loaded the bases with two outs and scored on a single from sophomore center fielder #Greg Caruso# (Stonypoint, N.Y.) and an error by Assumption junior shortstop Shawn Frigon (Worcester, Mass.).

Junior pitcher Dan Evangelista (Shelton, Conn.) got the win after tossing one and two-third innings of scoreless relief, while freshman pitcher Matt Metcalf (Warwick, R.I.) earned the four-out save.

Freshman pitcher #Matt Lee# (Stratford, Conn.) took the loss after giving up four runs in two innings of relief after replacing sophomore pitcher #John Hanna# (Dudley, Mass.), who allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts in six innings.

The Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back Saturday when they head to Post University Friday for a 3 p.m. non-conference contest.
