Aragbaye's 20 Points Lead Men's Basketball Past Post, 76-56

WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior guard Allen Aragbaye (Corona, Calif.) scored a game-high 20 points with seven boards, six assists and three steals to lead the American International College men's basketball team to a 76-56 non-conference victory at Post University to close out 2010 Thursday night.

The Yellow Jackets, who are receiving votes in the latest NABC Coaches' Poll, improved to 9-2 for the season with their sixth consecutive win. The Eagles record dropped 5-6 for the season.

Junior forward Isiah Wallace (Springfield, Mass.) scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds after missing each of the last two games due to injury. Sophomore guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

Senior guard Garvin McAlister (Norwich, Conn.) scored 14 points with six rebounds to lead Post, while senior guard Spencer Smith (White Plains, N.Y.) netted 12 points. Junior guard Ronnie Sawyer (Rahway, N.J.) had 11 points off the bench.

AIC never trailed after junior guard Adrian Hynes-Guery (Montreal, Que.) drained a three 2:04 into the game, triggering an 11-0 run to put the Yellow Jackets ahead 11-2 6:18 into the contest. He finished with nine points and five boards.

AIC led 35-21 at the half and led by as many as 25, 63-38, midway through the second stanza to secure the victory.

The Yellow Jackets shot 50.9 percent (27-53) from the field and 42.9 percent (9-21) from three, while holding the Eagles to 29.4 percent (20-68) from the floor and 23.1 percent (6-26) from beyond the arc.

AIC will open the New Year with a Northeast-10 contest against the College of Saint Rose Sunday. The game will tip-off at 3:30 p.m. at Butova Gymnasium.
