SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team won 3-1 over Assumption College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Ronald J. Abdow Field. Junior forward
Amanda McLean (Brandford, Conn.) scored 38 minutes in with what proved to be the game winning goal, in and doing so established four new scoring records.
The Yellow Jackets won their school record eighth game of the season to improve to 8-6, while the Greyhounds dropped to 0-12.
McLean now has nine goals, four in which are game winning goals, and 22 points this season, all of which are new school records. She also has 21 career goals since arriving at AIC, Setting a new record for career goals.
Assumption took an early 1-0 lead 34:17 into the game when junior midfielder Amanda Whaley (North Kingstown, R.I) found the back of the net with an assist from senior forward Brittany Boyle (Grafton, Mass.) Senior forward
Rhonwen Peters (Aquashicola, Pa.) tied the game 29 seconds later to make it 1-1 at the half.
McLean gave the Yellow Jackets the lead off an assist from senior back

Mackenzie Kewley (Rutland, Mass.) closed the scoring for AIC with an insurance goal 42 minutes in for the final 3-1.

Kim Steiner (Little Falls, N.Y.) made five saves to earn her school record eighth win of the season for the Yellow Jackets, while senior goalie Daniele Luongo (Northboro, Mass.) stopped 14 in the loss.
AIC outshot the Greyhounds 36-10 and held a 15-6 advantage in penalty corners.
Next up the Yellow Jackets will travel to C.W. Post on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
