SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 contest. The Purple Knights improved to 7-4-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 6-7-1 overall and 4-5-1 in conference play.
Both teams had multiple quality scoring chances but the match remained scoreless until the 80th minute when senior midfielder Ryan Gannon (Colchester, Conn) found the back of the net off a feed from freshman midfielder Anthony Stanley (La Ceiba, Honduras) to make it 1-0 Saint Michael's.
Sophomore goalkeeper Logan Kingman (New Bern, N.C.) stopped nine in earning the victory for the Purple Knights, while junior goalkeeper
James Taber (Liverpool, N.Y.) made six saves in the loss.
AIC outshot the Saint Michael's 20-13 and had the advantage in corner kicks 7-2.
AIC will travel to Southern Connecticut on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
