Emile Barnett# (Huntington, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season with 9:04 left in the game to give the American International College men's soccer team a 2-1 victory at C.W. Post Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets even their record at 3-3 with their third straight win, while the Pioneers fell to 2-3.
C.W. Post held a 1-0 lead at the half after sophomore midfielder David Carlsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) redirected a pass from freshman forward Betim Bajrami (Helsingborg, Sweden) past senior keeper Ryan Brooks-Newman (Selkirk, N.Y.) in the 26th-minute.
That lead held until the 77th-minute when sophomore forward #
Thomas Denomme# (North Smithfield, R.I.) placed the ball just inside the left post off a feed from Barnett, who scored the game-winner after taking a pass from graduate forward #Prince Ojik# (London, Egland).
Brooks-Newman made four saves in goal to pick up the win, while graduate keeper Shane Flanagan (Dublin, Ireland) had four stops in taking the loss. C.W. Post outshot AIC 20-13 and had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Wednesday when they host Le Moyne at 4 p.m. at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow.
