Springfield, Mass. – The American International College baseball team took down New Haven, 5-3, in a Northeast-10 match-up at AIC Park Thursday afternoon. With the win the Yellow Jackets improved to 4-16 overall and 2-6 in the NE-10, while the Chargers dropped to 8-10 and 4-6.
In the top of the third inning, UNH tied the game at 1-1 with a double down the right field line by senior second baseman Evan Okon (Bellmore, N.Y.) to score sophomore third baseman Tom Rombilus (Oneonta, N.Y.). On the next pitch, senior catcher Jimmy Rivas (Toa Baja, P.R.) belted a homerun to left center field to give the Chargers a 3-1 lead.

Julian Concepcion# (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead. Concepcion went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

Dillon Fontaine# (Amenia, N.Y.) went eight innings, allowed three runs, and struck out six in his first win of the season. At the plate, Fontaine was 1-2 with two runs scored, two walks, and a double all from the leadoff spot. Freshman #
John Hanna# (Dudley, Mass.) picked up his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
Junior T.J. Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) took the loss in a 7.2 innings, five run, and six strikeout effort.
The Yellow Jackets return to action in a doubleheader Saturday at UMass Lowell and 12 pm.
