Yellow Jackets Stymied by Saint Rose

Albany, N.Y. – The American International College baseball team was held to just three hits in an 8-1 Northeast-10 defeat to Saint Rose Thursday afternoon. The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 6-22 overall and 4-12 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improved to 14-19 and 9-9. More details to follow.

Saint Rose senior Jeremiah St. Louis (Tupper Lake, N.Y.) and AIC sophomore #Sean Stevenson# (Holyoke, Mass.) were locked in a pitcher dual through the first six innings. The score was tied 1-1 until the Golden Knights erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh. St. Louis threw six innings, struck out 12, and allowed just one earned run in the win. Stevenson gave up five earned runs and had four Ks in six plus innings of work.

Junior designated hitter Derek Marshall (Malone, N.Y.) went 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored for Saint Rose. Freshman second baseman Michael Carbone (Montreal, Que.) stole three bases, scored twice, and went 1-2 from the plate.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday as they host Southern Connecticut in a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
