The American International College baseball team suffered an 11-1 loss to Northeast-10 opponent Saint Rose at AIC Park Tuesday afternoon. With the loss the Yellow Jackets dropped to 6-21 overall and 4-11 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improved to 13-19 and 8-9.
Saint Rose jumped on AIC with five runs in the second inning and two in the third. The Golden Knights' offense was led by sophomore second baseman Michael Carbone (Montreal, Que.) who went 3-5 with three runs batted in, two doubles, and a run scored. Classmate and right fielder Jake Perez (Erie, Pa.) was 3-4 at the dish with four RBI, two runs scored, and a pair of doubles.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the seventh with a solo shot to left center by freshman third baseman
Tyler McElman (Marlborough, Mass.), his second of the year.
Sophomore David Batchelder (Troy, N.Y.) pitched five shutout innings to earn his third win of the season for Saint Rose. Fellow sophomore,
Dillon Fontaine (Amenia, N.Y.) was given the hook after allowing 5 runs, off six hits, in two innings pitched.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Thursday when they visit the Golden Knights for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
