Melbourne, Fla. – The American International College baseball team lost to the Florida Institute of Technology Monday afternoon, 13-1. The Yellow Jackets fell to 1-4, while the Panthers improved to 15-7.
A two-run double by senior catcher Kevin Villa (Miami, Fla.) in the first inning provided all the scoring needed for Florida Tech to defeat AIC. Senior shortstop Mitch Saum (Carterville, Ill.) and junior first baseman Michael Demma (Coral, Springs, Fla.) each doubled ahead of Villa and scored on his hit to left center. The Panthers would tack on three more runs before the inning was over.

Florida Tech exploded for seven more runs in the fifth inning as Demma hit a two-run double with the bases loaded followed by a two run single by freshman designated hitter Ryan McChesney (Lehigh Acres, Fla.). McChesney finished the game going 3-5 with three runs scored and two runs batted in and earned the save by pitching four scoreless innings.
Senior starting pitcher Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) allowed only one earned run over five innings with four strikeouts to earn the victory for the Panthers. Sophomore starter #
