WINTER PARK, Fla. – The American International College men's baseball team lost Sunday afternoon 12-4 to Bentley in their first of two games on the day. With the loss the Yellow Jackets record falls to 1-2 this season, while the win improves the Falcons to 3-7 on the year. Senior #Kevin Farrell# (Wilbraham, Mass.) went 3-4 in the game with one RBI and two runs scored.

Bentley struck first when they scored in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. AIC tied the score in the fifth inning when junior #Brenden Blaschke# (Palmer, Mass.) doubled to center field and then was knocked in when sophomore #Dennis Duffy# (Warwick, R.I.) doubled to right. The Falcons reclaimed the lead when they came up in the bottom of the fifth and pushed four runners across the plate to take a 5-1 advantage.

The Yellow Jackets cut the Falcon lead to 5-3 when they scored two runs in the sixth inning. Sophomore #Dillon Fontaine# (Amenia, N.Y.) scored AIC's first run of the inning when he singled right field and then was batted in when Farrell doubled to left center. Farrell then scored the second run when sophomore #Nicholas Devine# (Springfield, Mass.) doubled to right field. Bentley extended their lead to 8-3 as they scored three runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

The Falcons added another run to their lead in the seventh inning to stretch the score to 9-3. The Yellow Jackets looked to make a comeback in the eighth when senior #Mike Massery# (Pittsfield, Mass.) forced a walk with the bases loaded to push Farrell across the plate. But their effort was not enough as Bentley scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning for a 12-4 victory.

Freshman #Geoff McCowat# (Sterling, Va.) got the start for AIC going five innings giving up five runs, four earned, on four hits with three strikeouts in the loss. Sophomore #Jake Collins# (Westfield, Mass.) and freshmen #Nick DePaula# (Woodstock, Conn.) and #Tim Bailey# (Chicopee, Mass.) all saw time on the mound after McCowat left for the Yellow Jackets.

Sophomore Rob Finneran (Garden City, N.Y.) started for the Falcons going five and one third innings allowing three runs on nine hits with four strike outs in the win.

AIC out hit Bentley 10-8 on the day.
