Rindge, N.H. – The American International College baseball team dropped a pair of games at Northeast-10 opponent Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon. The Ravens took game one 15-2 and beat the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap 11-2. AIC fell to 2-16 overall and 0-6 in the NE-10, while Franklin Pierce improved to 9-11 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Senior Tom Cote (Swanzey, N.H.) got the win for Franklin Pierce, while giving up one run and striking out 11 in six innings of work. Sophomore #Dillon Fontaine# (Amenia, N.Y.) took the loss for AIC after allowing nine runs, eight earned, in three innings on the mound.
Freshman third baseman Ben Benigno (Trumbull, Conn.) went 4-4 with two runs scored and two batted in for the Ravens. Freshman catcher Mike Dowd (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was 2-3 with a two-run homerun in the first inning.
Senior #Kevin Farrell# (Wilbraham, Mass.) hit a solo homerun for the Yellow Jackets in the fourth inning. It was his fifth jack of the season.
In game two, senior James Palmer (Stoneham, Mass.) lasted 6.2 innings and gave up two runs in the in for Franklin Pierce. Sophomore #Sean Stevenson# (Holyoke, Mass.) gave up seven runs, three earned, in the loss for AIC.
Dowd continued his hot hitting in game two for the Ravens going 3-5 with two runs scored and two batted in. Senior first baseman Steve Carr (Nahant, Mass.) went 2-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run.
AIC coach #Nick Callini# was ejected in the second inning of game two.
The Yellow Jackets return to action tomorrow at home when they host the Ravens at 1 pm.
