Springfield, Mass. – The American International College baseball team took the first game of today's doubleheader 1-0 with a walk-off homerun from senior first baseman #Kevin Farrell# (Wilbraham, Mass.). Bloomfield won the second game by a score of 10-7. The Yellow Jackets are now 2-10 on the season, while the Deacons stand at 3-12.

The two teams remained scoreless until the homerun by Farrell in the seventh inning. It was his third of the season and has hit a walk-off to win both games for AIC this season.

Freshman #John Hanna# (Dudley, Mass.) got the win for the Yellow Jackets, his second of the season, in a two inning relief appearance. Freshman #Eric Cuadrado# (Yonkers, N.Y.) pitched five innings and struck out four batters in his second start of the season.

Sophomore Sean Stimpfel (Jackson, N.J.) started for the Deacons and took the loss, while giving up one earned run in six innings of work.

Bloomfield got on the board in the second inning with back-to-back RBI singles by sophomore catcher Alex Sepulveda (Newark, N.J.) and freshman second baseman Jonattan Fernandez (Paterson, N.J.).

AIC answered with four runs in the bottom half of the second to take a 4-2 lead. Freshman designated hitter #Jared DePatto# (Marshfield, Mass.) tied the game with a two-run homerun. Two batters later freshman third baseman #Tyler McElman# (Marlborough, Mass.) gave the Yellow Jackets the lead with the team's second two-run shot of the inning.

The Deacons erupted for six runs in the sixth to come from three runs down and take the lead and hold on for the victory. Sophomore outfielder Alberto Ruiz (Edison, N.J.) went 3-4 with two runs scored and one run batted in.

Sophomore pitcher David Ricci (Jackson, N.J.) pitched one inning of relief to get the win for Bloomfield. Sophomore starter Steven Godowski (Sayerville, N.J.) gave up seven runs, four earned, in five innings.

AIC freshman starter #Julian Concepcion# (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) pitched 5.1 innings, while allowing seven runs, six earned. Freshman #Geoff McCowat# (Sterling, Va.) took the loss after giving up three runs in 0.1 innings.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday when they host a doubleheader against Southern New Hampshire at 12 pm.
