Baseball Loses to Bentley 7-0

Winter Park, Fla. – The American International College baseball team lost to Bentley University for the third time in as many tries at Rollins College this week. This time the Yellow Jackets were shutout by the Falcons 7-0. AIC fell to 1-8 with just one game left on there Florida schedule, while Bentley improved to 6-7 on the young season.

Bentley got on the board immediately with three runs in the first inning. Freshman shortstop Vinnie Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) and junior right fielder Brett Damato (Commack, N.Y.) both drew walks to start the inning and advanced a base on a successful double steal attempt. Junior catcher Mike DeCoste (Chelmsford, Mass.) then doubled down the left field line to bring in two runs. DeCoste came across the plate on a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Charlie Pagliarulo (Medford, Mass.).

Freshman #Julian Concepcion# (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) made his second start of the season for the Yellow Jackets and suffered his first loss. He lasted only two innings and gave up five runs. AIC got a solid relief effort from sophomore #Zach Bunszell# (Medford, Mass.). He allowed only one run on three hits in four innings of work.

Senior starter Jarrod Marchesi (Peabody, Mass.) went the distance in the victory for the Falcons. He earned the complete game shutout after giving up only five hits, striking out five Yellow Jackets, and allowing no walks.

AIC completes its Florida trip with a visit to Saint Leo tomorrow at 7 p.m.
