Sophomore guard John Merchant (Monticello, N.Y.) scored a team-best 12 points with five rebounds to lead the Golden Lions, while senior forward Josh Lowe (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and junior guard Sean Smith (Copiague, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points each. Smith also had four rebounds and three assists and Lowe grabbed five boards.
The Golden Lions shot 43.6 percent (24-55) from the floor and 40.9 percent (9-22) from beyond the arc, while the Yellow Jackets shot just 31.1 percent (19-61) from the field and 23.1 percent (6-26) from three-point range.AIC had a slim 39-38 advantage on the glass.
The Yellow Jackets will next open the home and Northeast-10 portions of their schedule when they host New Haven Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Butova Gymnasium.
