HOLYOKE, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to second-ranked UMass Lowell at Holyoke High School Thursday night. The River Hawks evened their record at 2-2 on the season and improved to 2-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. Freshman goalie #Kim Steiner# (Redford, N.Y.) made 10 saves in her collegiate debut for AIC.

Junior Lauren Sullivan (Norwood, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal 3:50 into the contest to give UMass Lowell a lead is never surrendered. Sophomores Liz Day (North Andover, Mass.) and Katie Enaire (Amesbury, Mass.) the scored one goal each in a span of 1:52 to put the River Hawks ahead 3-0.

Enaire added a second goal in the 53rd minute and freshman Abby Auld (Waltham, Mass.) capped the scoring in the 68th minute. Senior goalie Danielle Dodier (Kensington, N.H.) recorded the win in goal, while sophomore #Nicole Spence# (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) took the loss for AIC after allowing the first three goals of the game.

UMass Lowell held a 21-2 advantage in shots and 14-2 in penalty corners.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Sunday when they travel to Bentley for a 12 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
