Field Hockey Shutout at Merrimack 1-0

North Andover, Mass – The American International College field hockey team was shutout by Merrimack Saturday afternoon, 1-0. The loss brings the Yellow Jackets record to 1-8 on the season and 1-7 in the Northeast-10, while the win improves the Warriors record to 3-5 on the year and 3-4 in the conference. Sophomore #Nicole Spence# (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made seven saves in goal for AIC.

Freshman Lauren Gonsalves (Harwich, Mass.) scored the game's only goal off of a rebound in front of the goal, with the assist from senior Maggie Florence (Lowell, Mass.).

Freshman Emily Achilles (Portsmouth, N.H.) earned the shutout making three saves for the Merrimack in the victory.

The Warriors outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-5 and 6-1 in the second half, while AIC had the advantage in corners at 12-7.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets take on Southern Connecticut at Williston Academy on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
