EASTHAMPTON, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Southern Connecticut State University Wednesday night in a Northeast-10 contest at the Williston Northampton School. The Owls improved to 5-5 on the season, including a 5-3 mark in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
Sophomore forward Amanda Winterbottom (Burlington, Conn.) scored what proved to be the game winning goal 5:17 into the game and freshman midfielder Tricia Mehm (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored in the 23rd minute to give Southern Connecticut a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Owls tacked on three more goals in the second half for the 5-0 final.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Sunday when they Saint Michael's in a 1 p.m. Northeast-10 contest. The game will be played at Elms College in Chicopee.
