HOLYOKE, Mass. – The American International College field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision in its season-opener against Merrimack Friday Night at Holyoke High School. Sophomore goalie #Nicole Spence# (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made eight saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets.

Junior forward Jaclyn Germano (Westwood, Mass.) scored the only goal of the match 10:12 into the second half, while freshman goalie Emily Achilles (Portsmouth, N.H.) made four saves to record the win in goal.

AIC had several chances to score, but was unable to capitalize. Merrimack held a 13-10 advantage in shots, while the Yellow Jackets held a 10-9 edge in penalty corners.

AIC will next host C.W. Post Sunday at Holyoke High School at 1:30 p.m.
