Men's Basketball Takes on Merrimack Saturday

SETTING THE SCENE: The American International College men's basketball team looks to remain unbeaten at home when it hosts Merrimack College Saturday afternoon.

ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets enter tonight's game with an overall record of 5-2 and are 3-2 in the Northeast-10 after registering a 94-79 win over Pace Wednesday night. Freshman guard Isiah Wallace leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 17.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. He also leads the team with 18 steals and is second with 22 assists. Senior forward Lucius Millinder is averaging 13.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Junior guard Aikeem Vanderhorst is averaging 11.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game and sophomore guard Sesoo Ikpah is averaging 11 points per contest.

LAST TIME OUT: AIC led by as many as 36 midway through the second half in recording a 94-79 win over Pace Wednesday night. Millinder led the Yellow Jackets with a career-high 35 points and a career-best 12 boards. Sophomore forward Bryon Richards had a breakout performance for AIC, recording career-highs of 17 points and seven rebounds. Wallace netted 16 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out five assists and freshman guard Adrian Hynes-Guery added 12 points and a game-high eight assists.

ABOUT MERRIMACK: The Warriors lost their first game of the season Wednesday night at Stonehill, 79-75, dropping their record to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Northeast-10. Junior guard Darren Duncan leads the team in scoring at 21 points per game and also leads the team with 50 assists and 11 steals. Sophomore guard Darin Mencey is averaging 17.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and freshman guard Roland Davis is averaging 12.5 points per contest.

NEXT UP: AIC hosts Franklin Pierce Tuesday night in a NE-10 contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Butova Gymnasium.

ABOUT THE SERIES: AIC holds a 41-29 advantage in the all-time series with Merrimack after the two teams split the season series in 2007-08, with the home team winning both games. The Yellow Jackets have won six of the last eight meetings with the Warriors.

LAST TIME THEY MET: AIC recorded a 77-74 win over Merrimack on February 2, 2008. Colson Senat scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets and Jeff Dosado added 20 points and seven assists. Micky Burtnyk led the Warriors with 15 points.
