SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 60-57 decision to the University of Bridgeport Saturday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium in its final contest before the New Year. Freshman guard #
Adrian Hynes-Guery# (Montreal, Que.) led the Yellow Jackets (7-4) with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Purple Knights (4-2) were led by senior guard/forward Teairez Stennis (St. Louis, Mo.), who scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Junior guard Lee Frazier (Millville, N.J.) added 14 points and sophomore guard Jermaine Washington (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed with 10 points off the bench.

Isiah Wallace# (Springfield, Mass.) fell just short of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds for AIC and junior forward #
Aikeem Vanderhorst# (Bay Shore, N.Y.) added nine points and seven boards. Senior forward #
Lucius Millinder# (Belleville, N.J.) netted eight points with three boards.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 22-18 at the half and were down 37-31 into the second half before going on a 12-6 run to take a 47-43 lead with 6:49 to go in the contest. Bridgeport regained the lead for good, 54-53, on a Frazier layup with 3:27 left in the game.
AIC trailed by one after Millinder converted a layup as he was fouled, but his free throw was off the mark and the Purple Knights gained possession of the ball. Washington was then fouled and made both free throws for the 60-57 final. The Yellow Jackets did get two good looks at a three in the closing seconds, but neither fell.
AIC returns to action January 3, 2009 when it travels to the College of Saint Rose for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
