Men's Basketball Beats USP in Season-Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's basketball team opened the 2008-09 campaign with a 68-54 victory over the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Saturday afternoon at Butova Gymnasium. Senior forward #Colson Senat# (Montreal, Que.) scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Yellow Jackets.

Senat made six of seven field goal attempts in the game, including a three-for-three performance from downtown, and grabbed eight rebounds off the bench. Senior forward #Lucius Millinder# (Belleville, N.J.) had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds and junior forward #Aikeem Vanderhorst# (Bay Shore, N.Y.) netted 12 points with eight boards. Sophomore guard #Sesoo Ikpah# (Williamstown, N.J.) also scored 12 points.

The Devils (0-1) were led by sophomore forward Adewale Adefemi (Chesilhurst, N.J.), who poured in 12 points and grabbed eight boards. Senior guard Jarrod Frazier (Port Norris, N.J.) netted nine points.

AIC shot just under 50-percent in the second half, making 14 of 29 shots from the floor, and shot 45.8-percent (27-59) for the game.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Sunday when they host Holy Family University at 2 p.m. at Butova Gymnasium.
