SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior forward
Lucius Millinder (Belleville, N.J.) scored a game-high 16 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field and hit 4 of 5 3-points to lead the American International College men's basketball team to a 71-52 victory over visiting Southern New Hampshire Saturday at Butova Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets improved to 6-7 on the season and 3-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Penmen dropped to 5-7 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

Ryan Leak (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 12 points with three rebounds two assists and one blocked shot for AIC and junior guard Vernon Dupree (Wilmington, Del.) added 10 points. Sophomore forward
Colson Senat (Montreal, P.Q.) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, eight of which were in the first half, and netted nine points.
Junior guard Troy Bowen (Nashua, N.H.) scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Southern New Hampshire. Freshman guard Chase Miller (Fairfax, Va.) added eight points and three rebounds, while freshman forward Cory Vejraska (Alachua, Fla.) tallied seven points and grabbed a team-best eight boards.
The Penmen opened the game with an 8-0 run and led 11-4 on junior guard Gerald Carter's (Harlem, N.Y.) jumper at the 16:28 mark of the first half. The Yellow Jackets responded by going on an 11-4 to tie the game at 15-all and closed the period with a 26-6 run and took a 41-21 lead into the locker room at halftime. Millinder scored each of his 11 first half points during that final run and was a perfect 3-3 from 3-point range.
AIC held a 54-35 lead 8:15 into the second half before going on a 13-0 run to put the game out of reach at 67-35 with 8:21 to go in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets shot 47.3 percent (26-55) for the game and held the Penmen to 30.4 percent (17-56). AIC outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 42-32 and held a 37-17 advantage in bench scoring. AIC improved to 3-1 at home this season and is now 6-0 when leading at halftime.
AIC returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Le Moyne at 7:30 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest.
