New Haven, Conn. - The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 76-62 decision at Southern Connecticut Saturday afternoon, snapping a five-game winning streak against the Owls. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 7-8 on the season and 4-6 in the Northeast-10, while Southern Connecticut improved to 5-9 overall and 2-8 in conference play. Sophomore forward

The Owls opened the game with a 10-2 run and never looked back as they took a 37-27 lead into the locker room at halftime. Southern Connecticut opened the second half with a 21-8 burst over the first 10:33 of the of second half to put the game out of reach.
Senior forward Devon Sullivan (Jamaica, N.Y.) led all scorers with 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for Southern Connecticut. Sophomore guards Trevor Harris (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Terron Jones (Bridgeport, Conn.) added 11 and 10 points, respectively, and sophomore center John Mazzarella (Wallingford, Conn.) fell just short of a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.
Junior guard Vernon Dupree (Wilmington, Del.) chipped in with nine points off the bench for AIC and junior forwards
Lucius Millinder (Belleville, N.J.) and
Colson Senat (Montreal, P.Q.) added eight points each.
The Yellow Jackets next travel to Stonehill Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
