Field Hockey Falls 3-2 to No.10 Bryant

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior forward Jamie Anderson (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored twice, in AIC's 3-2 loss to the visiting Bulldogs of Bryant College, in a Northeast-10 clash Thursday evening, at Stagg Field located on campus at Springfield College.

The Yellow Jackets played the No. 10 team in the nation very competitively, walking off the side-lines at halftime with a 1-1 score.

Bryant got the scoring started early in the first-stanza when Courtney O'Brien fired multiple shots off of AIC's starting goalie Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass.) before powering home her own rebound.

With the score 1-0, AIC evened the score when Anderson took a beautiful feed from freshman Rhonwen Peters (Aquashicola, Pa.) from outside the 15 yard-line and punched in her second goal of the season.

The game would remain tied heading into the second-frame. The Bulldogs shot out of the gates with something to prove, scoring twice, within three minutes of the starting whistle.

Shana Libman notched Bryant's first goal of the half, unassisted, after fending off heavy Yellow Jacket pressure and lacing a well placed ball past Armand.

Only minutes later, Bulldog forward Caroline Carr took a pass from 23 yards out from Jessica Maxwell, and slumped the Yellow Jacket's with a goal, making the score 3-1.

AIC played resiliently, constantly putting pressure on the goalie, before Anderson banged home her second goal after tinkering with the ball after a rebound out in front of the net. The goal was scored 10 minutes into the half.

Despite numerous Yellow Jacket scoring chances late in the game, Bryant held on to cash in on their seventh victory of the season. With the loss AIC falls to 2-6 in the conference, while the Bulldogs improve to a flawless 7-0 mark.

Armand tipped away five shots in net before injuring herself. Freshman Nicole Spence (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) replaced the senior, knocking away two-shots in 32 minutes of work. Bulldog goalie Kundayi Mawema stopped two shots on the evening.

The Yellow Jacket's will next take on C.W. Post, on the road, September 23rd. The game time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
