INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – American International College Director of Athletics Rob Kearney has been appointed to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee, earning a prestigious national role as the East Region Representative. Kearney will officially begin his term on September 1, 2026, and will serve through August 2030.
The appointment places Kearney among a select group of just eight administrators and coaches nationwide entrusted with shaping the future of the Division II Men's Basketball Championship, and it marks a significant national honor for both Kearney and American International College.
"I'm thrilled about this. It's a real honor," said Kearney. "Getting the chance to represent AIC on a national committee means a lot to me, and it says a lot about where we are as an athletic department. I can't wait to get to work with colleagues from around the country and do my part to make the championship experience the best it can be for these student-athletes. That's what it's all about."
Per the NCAA, "The purpose of the men's basketball committee is to develop policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the Division II Men's Basketball Championship." In this role, Kearney will have a direct hand in guiding one of the NCAA's marquee championship events — from regional tournament administration all the way through the crowning of a national champion.
Each of the eight NCAA Division II regions is represented on the committee by a full-time coach or administrator. As a committee member, Kearney will be on-site at the NCAA East Regional each March, attend the NCAA Division II Elite Eight — the pinnacle of the Division II men's basketball season — and travel to Indianapolis annually for the committee's meeting at NCAA Headquarters.
As the East Region Representative, Kearney will serve as the voice of 30 member institutions spanning three conferences: AIC's home league, the Northeast 10 Conference, along with the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. His selection ensures that the East Region — one of the most competitive in Division II men's basketball — will be well represented at the national level for the next four years.
Kearney's four-year term is a point of pride for the Yellow Jackets athletic department, further elevating AIC's profile on the national stage and underscoring the College's commitment to leadership within the NCAA.
