Baseball sends off seniors with win in wet finale

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - On a rain-soaked Saturday at Richard F. Bedard Field, the American International College baseball team made sure that its senior class went out winners, splashing past Franklin Pierce University 7-2 in a seven-inning Northeast 10 Conference matchup.

AIC ends the season at 16-31, including a 12-23 NE10 record.

Yeudy Ramirez led off the game with a triple and scored on a Josh Frometa sacrifice fly. However, the Ravens answered in the top of the second with a leadoff home run by Rafael Rodriguez.

In the home half of that inning, however, AIC kicked the doors off with a two-out rally. Aidan Streeter and Albis Felix both walked before Ramirez doubled to left-center to bring them home. Frometa and Leandro Guevara followed with gap-shot doubles of their own to right and left, respectively, expanding the lead to 5-1.

In the third, Ryan Hemenway walked and swiped second, taking third on a wild pitch as Nate Suncar walked. The rain shut the game down at that point, but when it resumed, Streeter lifted a double to left-center, bringing home the on-base duo.

The Ravens scored one in the sixth, with a Curt Boyd double followed by a Colin Hofman single, but that was it for the scoring in the 2026 season.

Austin Rhodes allowed one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in four innings for the win after Leo Vitale allowed a run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts in the first three frames before the rain forced an end to his day.
