Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Purple Knights offense too much for Women's Lacrosse

BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - The American International College women's lacrosse team kept it close in the first, but the University of Bridgeport ultimately prevailed 25-8 in a nonconference tilt on Friday, April 3.

AIC is now 1-9 on the season.

Kaileigh Kelleher opened the scoring for the Yellow Jackets just 33 seconds into the game, but the Purple Knights responded with a three-goal run over 65 seconds to take the lead. AIC fought back and was able to get a goal from Isabelle Stone at 4:15, only for the hosts to score off the next draw.

Kelleher pulled AIC within one again, taking a feed from Fenna Voll and depositing it in the net at 7:29; the assist was Voll's first collegiate lacrosse point. Gabrielle Walz then tied the game 56 seconds later. Bridgeport scored the next two, and though Walz netted another with 1:09 to play, a late Purple Knights goal gave the home team a 7-5 lead after one.

The rest of the game belonged to Bridgeport; AIC was held to three goals, all by Stone, in the final 45 minutes. Her first of the three was assisted by Walz.

Maggie Kloster made nine saves in the setback.

AIC has five remaining games, all in Northeast 10 Conference play; the Yellow Jackets next take the field against Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, April 8.
