BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - The American International College softball team was swept, 11-0 and 4-1, by the University of Bridgeport in a nonconference doubleheader on Saturday, March 14.
AIC is now 3-7 on the season.
Game one was all Purple Knights as AIC managed just three hits, while the home squad scored five unearned runs in the second and then stacked three in the third and the fourth to earn the 11-0 run-rule win.
Isabel Kahli Robinson,
Morgan Bemont, and and
Mikayla Doucette had the hits for the Yellow Jackets.
In game two, Bridgeport opened the scoring with an RBI double in the third, before a two-run shot and then an RBI triple in the fourth made it 4-0.
AIC did break the shutout;
Marilyn Augusta smacked a two-out double to right-center field, scoring
Lauryn Ramalho with her second hit of the game. However, AIC could not keep the rally going and dropped the contest.Â
