SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's volleyball team fell 22-25, 19-25, 23-25 to Regis College on Wednesday, March 11.
AIC is now 1-11 overall.
Both teams hit well in the first set, with just two attack errors each. However, the Pride were able to take the set with a late run, scoring eight of the last 10 points to grab the victory.
In the second, the visitors rolled a five-point run early, and while AIC tied the game twice and kept it close, the Yellow Jackets were never able to take the lead after that early stretch. The Pride finished the set on a three-point streak and took the 2-0 lead.
Regis quickly took charge of the third set with a 5-2 edge, and threatened to run away, but AIC rallied, taking the lead at 11-10. However, despite a strong battle, the Yellow Jackets could not keep the visiting side down, and a block on match point gave the Pride the set 25-23 and with it the win.
Emil Zhmaidziak and
Armani Anderson each netted eight kills.
Aidan Miller dished 30 assists, while
Fabian Lugo made nine digs.Â
AIC turns its attention to East Coast Conference play with an 11:00 a.m. tilt at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, March 14.
