SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's soccer team did the job well in its Northeast 10 Conference Championship First Round matchup with Adelphi University, winning 1-0 to advance to the NE10 Semifinal.
AIC is 9-5-4 on the season.
Chances were limited early, until AIC was able to strike in the 32nd minute.
Marc Tasies Minguell found
Sandro Alvarez Jimenez open on the left wing, and the rookie blasted a shot back inside the right post for his third of the season at 31:07.
AIC's defense was the story, however, limiting the Panthers to just a pair of on-target bids. Javier Sola Martinez only had to make one truly difficult save, knocking aside a Jack Kenyon chance in the 72nd minute.
His shutout was the eighth of the season, tying Lucas Morales Fernandez for the most in a season in program history.
AIC's next opponent will be Bentley University on Wednesday, November 4 at Abdow Field. Kickoff time is to be determined.
