Men's Basketball falls in contest at SNHU

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire - The American International College men's basketball team fell 85-73 to Southern New Hampshire University in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Sunday, January 4.

AIC is now 2-10 overall and 1-3 in the NE10.

Coleman Hopson made the game's first shot, and makes by Aleksy Walczak and Aguibou Balde helped AIC build an early 7-2 lead; though the Penmen tied things 9-9, Hopson hit a three to put AIC back up just before the first media timeout. Later in the frame, Hopson knocked down two more triples, and AIC had its edge extended to 26-16; those long shots were set up by Amadou Diallo and Tony Felder, respectively.

The Penmen answered with a 12-0 run to regain the lead over the next four minutes of play, starting a back-and-forth with six lead changes, but the Penmen scored the half's final six points and led 40-35 after 20 minutes.

The home side scored the first five of the second half as well, but AIC shrank the deficit to four as Walczak, Hopson, and Felder each struck from deep during a stretch of play where both teams made shots. Diallo swiped a pass a few possessions later to go in on a breakaway, and laid a shot in that had AIC within two with 15:30 to play.

AIC kept it close over the next seven minutes; though the Penmen had several runs, AIC always closed back, with an and-one by Felder bringing AIC within a 63-61 margin with under nine minutes to play after he finished the play with the free throw make. However, the team was not able to tie the game, and the Penmen made key shots down the stretch to pull away and win 85-73.

Hopson led AIC with 16 points; Felder had 13, while Walczak and Diallo each had 12. That quartet combined to make 22 of AIC's 29 field goals; Diallo's six rebounds were a team high, as were Felder's six assists.

AIC will break from conference play in its 2026 debut at the Henry Butova Gymnasium, hosting Queens College on Wednesday, January 7 at 3:30 p.m.
